Hello Beauties!

Welcome to my makeup world. My name is Dominika and I am a makeup artist since 2012. I have been a self-learner for most of the time but I have also attended numerous workshops and seminars with top professional makeup artists. I love playing with makeup and working as makeup artist helped me to gain self confidence. In this post I would like to share a brief story of my makeup journey with you.

My makeup journey started in 2011. My main inspiration at that time was Youtuber Katosu and her videos encouraged me to start playing with makeup. For long time I had been learning by myself and practicing on myself until my talent was discovered on a makeup contest by the main makeup artist of Astor. She saw my potential and that is when I started actually growing on blogspot. 

I worked with many photographers during private photoshoots which was crucial step on my path to learn how my makeup worked with cameras and different people. In the meantime I won numerous makeup contests and, finally, I became confident of my skills. That is when I was finally ready to work with clients on their special occasions. Wedding is the most special occasion of all and my work always has to be perfect no matter what - I am a perfectionist as much as I am very self-critical of my work.

My goal has always been to help women feel beautiful. In Poland, where I come from, my makeup style I would describe as mostly focused on enhancing the natural beauty of my clients and it was the key of my success in bridal makeup. Most of my clients never actually wore full makeup and most of them never wished to look too artificial on their special day. Also, the main requirement there is that the makeup must be extremely long lasting - and for this the most ultimate rule has always been "the less, the better". I always put the most efforts on doing the eye makeup and in Poland rather fresh skin has always been preferred by my clients. Therefore, it is accurate to say that my signature skill has always been perfect eye makeup.

In 2017 I moved to Indonesia and my career in Poland has been frozen. Since then I have been trying a couple of times to revive my makeup artist career in Indonesia but I found it very challenging. I discovered professional Indonesian makeup during seminars with Reza Azru, Irwan Riady, Anggun and Laode Yusuf. Since then my style has evolved and I am very much inspired with the works of those four artists. However, I am still preserving my personal preferences and, currently, my makeup style is simply a mixture of what I know and learned here. Simply put, I have created my own makeup fusion.

Makeup is about continuous learning and upgrading and I think this is what is beautiful about it. But at the same time, as trends come and go, we should never forget about our own personal preferences and remember about the ultimate goal of makeup - to help us feel beautiful in our own skin.
